The Smallified Clothed Souls

Cawcas Dolls are for everyone. Our Raggy-Folk have no race or gender, they are purely dolls.
The original Cawcas Doll shape is based on a vintage tailors dummy, adapted to be gender non-specific. This means that their characters can emerge as they are being created, with no limitations. They can become anyone or anything with no rules.

The smaller Poppets are a much simpler shape and came from my love of the play 'The Crucible' and the powerful folk who were murdered in the name of witchcraft.

I make cloth characters for all grown ups, not cute dolls for little girls. The first doll I made was as a present for a friend's daughter, but then I made some for my two adult sons and Stef's adult son ... after I'd made myself a Wicked Witch ...

The name 'Cawcas' came from the Caucus Race in Alice in Wonderland:

"First [the Dodo] marked out a race-course, in a sort of circle, ('the exact shape doesn't matter,' it said,) and then all the party were placed along the course, here and there. There was no 'One, two, three, and away,' but they began running when they liked, and left off when they liked, so that it was not easy to know when the race was over. However, when they had been running half an hour or so, and were quite dry again, the Dodo suddenly called out 'The race is over!' and they all crowded round it, panting, and asking, 'But who has won?'" ... "At last the Dodo said, 'everybody has won, and all must have prizes.'"
