Creepy Beings
Creepy Beings come from a love of film, horror and spooky things. They are often based on known characters, but created as if I was doing my own costume design for them.

It's a really enjoyable process for me as I get to make costumes for characters I love and be as creative as I like.

Their bodies and costumes are made from remnants of cloth where possible, which cuts down on the environmental impact of producing new fabrics. Using remnants can also influence the costume design - if I have a certain fabric that I really want to use for that character, it may dictate the cut of the clothing depending on the amount of fabric I have available.

Once the basic shape is cut and sewn, Stef paints their face, adding detail to make their character really shine through, then I finish the doll - adding ears, nose and hair if required.

The next step is to design and make their costumes, sometimes including hats or props.

Nosferatu
Nosferatu was made for my son, Jake. He's a huge old-school horror fan so Nosferatu seemed the obvious choice.
Turnip-head
Turnip-head was made for Stef''s son, Archer. He loves all things Studio Ghibli and I used it as an excuse to try something a bit different.
The Babadook
My son, Lewis, is responsible for
the Cawcas Dolls logo and has
watched this film so many times
I've lost count ... so I just had to
make him The Babadook ... dook ... dook ...
Wicked Witch
The Wicked Witch was my first attempt at this style of doll. The pattern has progressed a lot since she was created. She lives in my house and keeps the flying monkeys in check.
Papa Legba
One of my favourite modern horror characters, and a chance to make a tiny period coat and top hat.
Headless Horseman
I caught Sleepy Hollow on late night TV and started wondering how I could achieve this with a doll. I turned to my theatre roots and put quick-change magnets in the neck and head.
William Hill
Not many modern horror shows give me the heebie-jeebies but ...
The Bride
(Bandaged) Hands down my favourite horror character of all time!
Mac Attack!
We made up a doll from this striped cotton and it's face was fairly minimal. It sat around for a while like that, not really inspiring us.
It wasn't until we saw it's inner banker that we came up with Mac Attack!
Jack Skellington
How could we not do Jack? He's got Santy Claw's red velvet hat and his tailcoat and trousers are wool. It was so much fun to make!
Mothman
Mothman was made for my Sorta-Daughter, Kira. She's a huge fan, so we made this as a surprise for her Christmas 2022. She lives in Canada and the suitcase that Mothman travelled in got lost in Montreal for about 3 weeks, but eventually arrived unharmed.
I didn't know the legend of Mothman until we started to make this doll ... and I'm TERRIFIED of moths, which proves how much we love her!
